Update: BID Holiday Events

responsive image

Capitol Hill BID has announced the virtual celebration of our neighborhood traditions: the 14th Annual Tree Lighting and 7th Annual Menorah Lighting. Keeping everyone's health and safety in mind during this unprecedented time, Capitol Hill BID has arranged for both events to be captured on video without an audience to be later released online for the community to enjoy.

The virtual Tree Lighting will be available online the second week of December and the Menorah Lighting will be available the first night of Hanukkah, Thursday, December 10th. The public is asked to come view the holiday decorations and the Menorah in the newly renovated Parcel One of Eastern Market Metro Plaza (Pennsylvania Ave SE and 8th St SE) safely and socially distanced on their own time.

Kathy Didden, wife of the late founding BID President George Didden, has proudly flipped the switch to light the tree every year since 2007 and will continue to take part in the tradition this year. Rabbi Hannah, of co-sponsor Hill Havurah, will bless the Menorah in celebration of the Festival of Lights and the Pascal family will light the Menorah in honor of past Chairman of the Board and Community Leader, Paul L. Pascal, Esq.

Update: Due to shipping delays, the Annual Tree Lighting video will not be posted on December 4th. The video will still be posted for all to enjoy soon - just a few days later than previously announced!
