Spring Planting Has Begun!

If you’ve been walking through the BID the last couple of days, you may have noticed new flowers and plants popping up, particularly along Barracks Row (8th Street, SE). The BID’s landscaping team has begun their spring planting with the public space planters along Barracks Row.

The planters are part of a supplemental service contract that the Barracks Row Main Street program has with the BID. Plants include pansies, yucca, evergreens and knock out rose bushes. As we head into the summer months, the pansies will be replaced with vinca, English ivy and lantana flowers to add some color.

The supplemental service contract also includes plants for the 23 pole baskets along 8th Street, SE. New flowers will be planted in the pole baskets at the end of April.

In other areas of the BID, the landscaping team will soon begin to plant liriope in nearly 400 tree beds within our legislated boundaries.

Along with our core clean and safe services, public space planters, pole baskets and the ongoing maintenance of tree beds add beauty to our BID, making it an attractive destination for residents and tourists alike. Happy Spring!
