On Monday, August 20, the Capitol Hill BID hosted its Quarterly Awards Luncheon and Annual Family Outing with a boat cruise on the Potomac River. Over sixty people were on board the Miss Mallory, including team members and their family members, as well as members of our board of directors. BID President Patty Brosmer and Marketing Manager Kelly Maslar greeted guests with colorful leis as they boarded the boat. Board Member Bill Rouchell entertained guests in complete pirate attire and was a big hit with the children on the boat. Above, right: Nephew of BID Clean Team Member Willie Taylor was very excited to take a boat cruise on the Potomac River!

The luncheon and family outing also included clean team members and guests from North Capitol Main Street, Barracks Row Main Street, and the Adams Morgan Partnership BID. The Capitol Hill BID has supplemental maintenance service contracts with these three organizations.

After a delicious barbeque-themed lunch catered by Main Event Caterers, Operations Director Andrew Lee and Patty Brosmer began the awards ceremony. Numerous awards were given out to team members from all four organizations. Awards included: Clean Team Consistency Award, Most Improved Award, The Green Thumb Award, Clean Ambassador of the Quarter, and Safe Ambassador of the Quarter. When the awards ceremony was completed, Andrew asked his brother Arnold Lee, senior site supervisor, to read the BID’s creed, which reinforces our FISH philosophy that we can work hard but also have fun and enjoy ourselves:

As you enter this place of work please choose to make today a great day.  Your colleagues, customers, team members, and you yourself will be thankful.  Find ways to play.  We can be serious about our work without being serious about ourselves.  Stay focused in order to be present when your customers and team members most need you.  And everyday, find someone who needs a helping hand, a word of support, or a good ear – and make their day.

Many thanks to our board members who were in attendance, including Chairman Paul Pascal, Susan Perry, Bill Rouchell, and Chris Robertson. We appreciate your continued support of our mission.
