55th annual IDA Conference Recap

Patty Brosmer, president of the Capitol Hill BID, and Nina Liggett, program manager, joined over 400 members of the International Downtown Association (IDA) community September 12-14 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin for the 55th annual IDA Conference.

The theme of the conference was The Urban Canvas: The Art of Downtown Development .

Among the many informational sessions and keynote addresses Ms. Brosmer and Ms. Liggett had the opportunity to hear from Dan Biederman co-founder of the Bryant Park Corporation in New York City, who extended his advice and ideas to conference goers on public space revitalization- a particularly relevant topic for the Capitol Hill BID in light of future redevelopment projects and the continuing research into the redesign of Eastern Market Metro Plaza.

Patty Brosmer was featured on a panel about the recent Cigarette Litter Prevention Program the BID launched this summer. She shared impressive results and insights about the program to a room full of downtown associates interested in emulating the Keep America Beautiful campaign for their cities.

Downtown Milwaukee was a unique urban atmosphere that served as a great host city for this event. Both Ms. Brosmer and Ms. Liggett are excited to put their new ideas into action on Capitol Hill.
