CHAMPs 1st Annual Hilly Awards

CHAMPS, Capitol Hill’s Chamber of Commerce, will host the first annual HILLY AWARDS on November 20 from 8pm to midnight in the North Hall of Capitol Hill’s historic Eastern Market. The HILLY AWARDS is an event focused on bringing the community together for one night to celebrate what makes Capitol Hill a great place to live and work.

During August and September, the Capitol Hill community at-large nominated businesses for 4 of the 9 total awards for the event: Best Restaurant/Café, Best Retailer, Best Service Provider, and Best New Business. During the month of October over 1500 Capitol Hill residents voted on who would win.

The other 5 HILLY Award categories (nominated and voted on by the CHAMPS Board of Directors) are Community Service Award, CHAMPS Individual Volunteer of the Year, CHAMPS Business Volunteer of the Year, Libby Sangster Award for CHAMPS Member of the Year, and the President’s Award.

The winners of all 9 HILLY Award categories will be announced at the gala event on November 20. Nominees for the Community-generated awards can be seen online at www.capitolhill.org.

Tickets to the HILLY Awards are $70 for CHAMPS members and $85 for non-members and are available online at www.capitolhill.org or by calling 202.547.7788. In addition to the awards presentation, this gala event will feature hors d’oeuvres and desserts by Marvelous Market Capitol Hill, open bar with local “celebrity bartenders,” music and dancing, and great door prizes. The awards presentation will be emceed by local Hill celebrity, Chuck Burger. Local photographer, Stuart Hovell, will be on hand to photograph attendees as they arrive on the red carpet and throughout the evening’s festivities.
