Barracks Row Gets Funding for Extra Maintenance Services

In August Barracks Row Main Street kicked-off of a one-year program to provide extra cleaning services and beautify the historic 8th Street corridor and they contracted with the BID’s “Ready, Willing & Working” Clean Team to get the job done. The funds are made possible through a grant from the DPW and will enable a team of workers to be on duty during Barracks Row’s high-traffic times: Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays from 3—11 pm.

In the first sixty days the Clean Team removed thousands of pieces of gum from 8th Street sidewalks, collected 733 bags of garbage, spread fresh mulch in tree boxes and between pavers, transplanted hundreds of Liriope into tree boxes, and installed 30 large self-watering planters containing mini arborvitaes and red, white and blue pansies.
